The Urban Development Plan will be a revised overall master plan for the National Capital District. This plan will provide the statutory policy framework for the land use, physical development, and infrastructure services with a view to balance social objectives, economic advancement and environmental sustainability. This policy framework will contain and direct private development within the city and help to direct and prioritise public investment in infrastructure, public space and urban structure. It will guide physical planners to direct developers to achieve urban environments that are pleasant, safe, community oriented and generally livable.

This project is due to be completed in 2018.
