A modern house had suffered a number of alterations and additions that had undermined its intended character and eliminated its connection to its surrounds - the garden and the view.
A series of interventions reclaimed and extended its original modern intent: new terraces extend the living rooms; guest pavilion, and exotic garden add to the amenity of the setting. A swimming pool, curved glass, white paint, automatic curved driveway gate, and new electrical and mechanical services modernise the building.
Within the existing roof profile a flat roof terrace, a low roof garden, pergola and roof pavilion were built. The roof shape increased the neighbour’s view and access to sunlight, while from the street the house maintains its two storey appearance.
This small pavilion in steel, zinc and glass provides a retreat to enjoy the harbour view, the sun and a place to entertain under the stars. The doors slide away uniting timber flooring and decking seamlessly. The space of the modest pavilion seems to extend beyond into the borrowed harbour view.
